I have come to academic life after a full and satisfying (mostly) career as a high school teacher. With research I feel as if I have come home. I was not prepared for how exciting it was to prepare a research project, make hypotheses about what might be happening, collect data and to analyse the findings. When hypotheses are supported it is a real buzz, but when they are not, then the search is on to find out what is actually going on! Either way it is the most fascinating thing I have ever done.

This is true of all the research projects I have been involved in, not just my own organisational psychology research, although that happens to be the area that kicked it all off.
